Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti) team held a visitation to Mechatronics Department

Sunday, September 4, 2011

Monday, 20 / 6 Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti) team held a visitation to Mechatronics Department of Sanata Dharma University. This visitation was conducted as a follow up submission of Mechatronics D3 programs Faculty of Science and Technology of Sanata Dharma University (SDU) which will be developed into Mechatronics Polytechnic of Sanata Dharma. There are four members in the team from the Directorate of Higher Education (Dikti), namely: (1) Prof. Dr. Johannes Gunawan, SH, LL.M. (Co-operation Directorate and the Directorate General of Higher Institutions Team), (2) Prof. Dr. Bernadette M.Waluyo, SH, M. Hum, C.N. (Co-operation Directorate and the Directorate General of Higher Institutions Team), (3) Dra. Cedaryana, M.Pd. (Staff of the Directorate of Higher Education Institutions and Cooperation Directorate), (4) Ni Aulia "Matu Dawn, SH (staff of the Directorate of Higher Education Institutions and Cooperation Directorate).

In the first part, the team lead by Prof.. Dr. Johannes Gunawan, SH, LL.M. conducted a meeting with staff of Mechatronics, chairman of Sanata Dharma University, and Sanata Dharma Foundation. After listened to presentation by Ignatius Deradjad Pranowo, SS, M. Eng., Directorate of Higher Education team held a debriefing with the staffs and managements of the University and Foundation. In the discussion, Sanata Dharma Foundation was ready to back up the necessary funds for the operation of three programs of study Mechatronics Polytechnic. The team even asked for physical evidence of the existence of the required funds. In the next section, Directorate of Higher Education visitation team conducted a review of physical and laboratory facilities owned by Mechatronics Study Program of SDU. In the concluding section, Professor. John as the chairman of the team stated that in general preparations were running smoothly, both from the curriculum, funding and infrastructure. Thus, the Polytechnic Mechatronics Polytechnic was ready to operate.

Mechatronics Polytechnic of Sanata Dharma (will) have three levels of Diploma-III, namely: Mechatronics, Medical Instrumentation, and Mechatronics Product Design. Seeing from the history, Mechatronics Study Program already has a permit since 1998 with Decree No. 149/Dikti/Kep/1998 and has gotten three times extension of operating license and Accreditation from BAN-PT. Two other study programs (study program in the filing of the opening of a new license) became a minimal requirement for the establishment of a polytechnic (three study programs). On May 5, 2011, the founder of the Polytechnic team asked for a presentation in front of the Directorate of Higher Education team. Kopertis V Region of Yogyakarta also has made a visitation (9 / 5) and provided recommendations to the Directorate Higher Education about the feasibility and readiness of the establishment of the Polytechnic of Sanata Dharma.

Mechatronics is the integration of mechanical technology, electronics, and informatics. We have had a lot of industries are applying technology in mechatronics. When all processes of production / manufacturing uses this technology, then most of the workforce required by an industry are those who are experts in the field of mechatronics.

Medical Instrumentation is the application of electronics engineering, machinery, information, and measurement techniques in an effort to build a device that will be used to make the process of patient monitoring, diagnosis and treatment of a disease. Computers are a vital component in the world of medical instrumentation, ranging from the microcontroller in a specific medical device to a microcomputer that is used to process information in a medical imaging system.

Mechatronic product design is a branch of science that will provide and meet the needs of more value to a product that will enhance the sale value, function, and safety. Values over a product can be tangible packaging, ergonomics, beauty / aesthetic, as desired by the modern market. In mechatronic product design study program, students will learn to develop ideas, concepts and implementation.
